Tip Tuesday

To follow along with the Spring Cleanup theme, I’m going to share a little Repurpose action with you today!

This past weekend Myra had a chance to clean some old junk out of the potting shed. Stuff that’s been sitting in there for years, unused.. but not lacking at all in potential.

She had just taken a trip to Round Top the weekend before, which left her feeling inspired to Jazz Up some of her old finds.

bird cage

First Spruce up was an old cherished bird cage! It’s got these great rustic scroll designs surrounding the bottom and top of the cage. Along with really cool feet, the hanging piece mimics the same design. She filled it with Kalanchoe and a few other varieties of succulents. This was a great choice for the bird cage, because these guys don’t require a lot of water or care. Something enjoyable that you don’t have to worry too much about 😉 With the little requirement for water it also lends to the life of the cage.. the base will survive longer if it’s not sitting in moist plant material all the time. With the addition of a cute little garden fairy this repurposed planter will bring beauty to any space!

After a bit Myra got on a role.. it’s awesome how much you can get done when you’re inspired! Come on by the shop and see all of her new creations. Maybe even take one home.. or get inspired yourself!

Motivation Monday

What are you guys doing for spring cleaning motivation this year? I’ve seen that some people are reading “this is how you clean your house” kinda books, others are taking measures from motivational quotes and inspiring stories via the abundance of blogs, and some people, like me, have been practicing the age old art of avoiding..

Yes.. I admitted it.. I’ve been avoiding the Spring Cleaning Itch! I have this room, I call it the laundry room. It’s basically one of those rooms that you walk into and you drop everything! Drop the shopping bags, drop the antique finds that will “someday” turn into projects, drop the piles of laundry, drop the makeup, drop the shoes, the hair products, heck I even drop the groceries in there sometimes!

It all starts to pile up after a while. And I feel like that can get quite overwhelming. It just creates this yucky cluttery feel in the house.. You almost don’t notice it til bit by bit it creeps up on you a little at a time. Then BAM you’re stressed tired and plum worn out of any kinda motivation you might’ve once had.

That being said, I figured the only kinda way I could get rid of the mess and the stress is to stop avoiding it and get rid of it!

So yesterday I did just that! I decided to commit to one room (I chose the laundry room for obvious reason) and I got to it. First thing I did was clean up everything off the floor, then off the desk, off the shelves, and I swept up. Once I started to accumulate a pile of stuff that needed to be stored or chunked I went with that ol’ mythical rule “If you haven’t used it in a year, chunk it!”

Now that may not be exactly how it goes, but you get the gist of it right?? I cleaned and chunked and cleaned and put up. Annnnd nearly 7 hours later I was done!

It feels so good to walk into that clean room, my spirits were lifted.. even my dogs feel better! Check it out..

I don’t have any before pics.. I wouldn’t show you if I did haha. I now have motivation to put up my Christmas décor.. hehe.. and finish Spring Cleaning the rest of the house!

Motivation Monday

How about this weather?

We are definitely welcoming this break in the gray clouds and rainy season we’ve had lately! We’ve been getting shipments of some pretty color in, along with some other things like fertilizer, bagged mulch, compost, and potting soil 🙂 Today’s been a great day to get out and start some of those to-do list’s!

3.23.15.4

My advice: Take it one project at a time. Complete the task at hand before you move on to the next one.. that way you have a sense of accomplishment and you can use that as driving force to tackle one more project!

How do you guys kick start your spring cleaning?

3.23.15.1

Do you have any annual commencement activities or do you just jump right into it?

3.23.15.3

How do you celebrate the completion of spring cleaning and a job(s) well done?

3.23.15.2

Anything specific you want to plant in your spring gardens this year?

Tip Tuesday: Enjoying the Sunshine

Processed with VSCOcam with c2 preset

How about this sunshine? Mmmmm…. my skin is whispering sweet nothings while I bask in the warmth of it all… I’ve been looking for excuses to get outside and enjoy this amazing weather, and it looks like I’m not the only one!

What are you guys doing to enjoy the great outdoors? I’ve been pulling weeds, dusting ant piles, beginning the cleanup of my garden for spring, walking my puppy loves, sitting out in the grass reading, basically just some good ‘ol I’m ready for spring activities!

We’ve got plenty of fertilizer, plant food, ant poison, bug zapping kinda stuff along with some great deals on plants left over from last years orders.

Come on by, we’d love to show you around!
